NEW YORK (Reuters) - Five years after his death, singer Michael Jackson is generating a fortune and is the top-earning dead celebrity, raking in an estimated $140 million in the past year for his estate, Forbes said on Wednesday. He earned more than twice as much as singer Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 and came in second with $55 million, and three times more than cartoonist and Peanuts comic strip creator Charles Schulz, who took third place with $40 million. "Few celebrities prove the point that there is (financial) life after death better than Michael Jackson," according to Forbes. It is Jackson's second straight year atop the list. He regained the title in 2013, a year after being pushed into second place by actress Elizabeth Taylor. Jackson's second album released after his death, "Xscape" debuted at No. 2 on the pop charts in the past year and the singer also appeared as a hologram at the Billboard Music Awards. Two Cirque du Soleil shows, "Immortal" and "One," account for much of Jackson's earnings along with his music catalog and publishing empire. Taylor, who died in 2011, came in at No. 4 with $25 million and reggae singer Bob Marley completed the top five with $20 million in earnings in the year to October 2014. Marley died of cancer at the age of 36 in 1981. Singer John Lennon, the former Beatle who was gunned down in New York in 1980, was No. 7 with $12 million. The 13 deceased celebrities included on Forbes list earned a total of $363.5 million. Forbes compiled the list by talking to estate managers, lawyers and licensors and analyzing estimated posthumous earnings between October 2013-14.

Obama Is Risking a U.S. Ebola Outbreak for His Own Ambitions

Nearly 60 percent of Americans want the government to shut down flights to the U.S. from Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, sources of the Ebola virus. Why isn’t the White House playing ball? One theory: because once again, President Barack Obama is serving his legacy at the expense of the country.
Six years ago he put his legacy-building healthcare legislation ahead of the need to create jobs and reboot our fragile economy. Today, his ambition to be a hero to Africa is undermining common sense approaches to protecting Americans from the Ebola virus.
At issue is the enormous popularity of George W. Bush in Africa, a love affair that highlights how little, by comparison, Mr. Obama has done for that continent. As The New York Times reported in 2013, Bush “is seen as a lifesaver who as president helped arrest a deadly epidemic [AIDS] and promoted development of impoverished lands.” As The Times noted, “During a final trip as president in early 2008, Mr. Bush was warmly greeted by huge crowds of the sort he never saw at home anymore.”
Related: The Virus That's More Likely to Kill You Than Ebola
That’s a bitter pill for Mr. Obama, who makes little secret of his dislike for his predecessor and who, as our nation’s first black president, was expected to make great contributions to Africa. It must gall him that U.S. approval ratings in numerous important African countries have tumbled under his leadership.
According to Gallup, U.S. approval ratings in sub-Saharan Africa peaked at 85 percent in 2009; by 2013 they had plummeted to 64 percent.  They explained the likely source of the drop: “Given Obama's Kenyan heritage, many Africans likely expected Obama to pay more attention to Africa than they perceive he has.”  In Kenya, the birthplace of the president’s father, approval of the U.S. leadership collapsed from 93 percent in 2009 to 68 percent by 2013.
When both 43 and 44 happened to overlap in Tanzania two years ago, Mr. Obama had to answer critics “who complain he has not done enough to build on [Mr. Bush’s] efforts.” Where has the White House fallen short? Anne Kamau, a fellow from the Africa Growth Initiative, as posted on the Brookings website, said the Obama administration has failed to build better business ties with Africa. She writes, “Brazil, India, China and Turkey have recognized and taken advantage of these opportunities; comparatively, the U.S. has not.”
Further, she argues the Obama government could do more by “engaging in publicly visible and commercially oriented diplomacy on the continent.” She doesn’t understand that this administration does not think “business first.” Our non-oil imports from sub-Saharan Africa in 2013 amounted to just $13 billion compared to overall U.S. imports of $2.7 trillion. That says it all.

The president, who opened his 2013 speech at the University of Cape Town by saying, “Some of you may be aware of this, but I actually took my first step into political life because of South Africa,” is desperate to rebuilding his standing. He is trying to do so in foolish and dangerous ways.

Sending 4,000 American troops to the epicenter of the viral outbreak, to help build medical facilities and generally contribute manpower to the stricken and chaotic nations, can only end in tragedy. This is not what our troops signed up for.
At the same time, President Obama is refusing to cancel flights to the United States from the most stricken nations.  Other nations’ airlines starting banning flights to and from Liberia, Sierra Leon and Guinea in August. By the end of that month more than one third of international flights to the region had been cancelled. Countries in the area, including South Africa and Senegal, closed their borders with their neighbors to help stem the spread of the disease. Chad closed its border with Nigeria after that nation saw an outbreak of the deadly disease.
Instead of banning the flights, the White House has TSA workers taking the temperatures of passengers arriving at five U.S. airports. The fact that people may carry the virus for as much as 21 days before displaying any symptoms – including fever – renders this effort half-baked at best.
In fact, the entire response to the Ebola outbreak by our government so far seems half-baked. Tom Frieden, head of the Center for Disease Control, recently wrote on his blog, “The U.S. health system has been preparing since late March” for the arrival of the Ebola virus on our shores.  In light of the death of Thomas Duncan in Dallas and infection of one of his healthcare providers, many Americans are wondering: what exactly was the nature of those preparations?
Numerous errors occurred in Dallas, where Mr. Duncan was treated and died, starting with the hospital sending the feverish Liberian visitor home. The apartment where the man was living was not sanitized for several days after his diagnosis was confirmed, and the hospital did not include on its monitoring list the nurse who has now contracted Ebola. Shouldn’t the authorities consider anyone who came in contact with the dying man at risk of contagion?
Let’s be honest: over those six months, the CDC failed totally to communicate the urgency of the Ebola threat, how to respond to it and how it might be transmitted. The Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where Mr. Duncan was treated is an 898-bed acute-care hospital. If the first U.S.-diagnosed case had shown up in a small town in the heartlands the lapses would be easier to understand.
We seem to be one of the few nations not taking the spread of Ebola seriously. Perhaps we are just a smidge overconfident. When Mr. Frieden assured the nation that we would “stop Ebola in its tracks” earlier this month, he listed several protocols that would keep the disease from spreading. Few of those appear to have been followed.
Mr. Frieden was previously Commissioner of New York City’s Health Department. Highlights of his time in that post include an aggressive anti-smoking media campaign and the successful (and controversial) effort to stamp out trans-fats. Given his past, he may have unwarranted confidence in the power of government. Critics have called him an “overzealous activist.” In facing down the Ebola virus, we hope he is that and more.

Preacher gets congregation to drink petrol after saying he’s turned it into pineapple juice

A preacher convinced his congregation to drink petrol after claiming he’d turned it into pineapple juice.
Pastor Lesego Daniel, whose high-energy services attract hundreds of worshippers to his Rabboni Centre Ministry in South Africa, performed the ‘miracle’ by pouring petrol into a bucket and dropping a match inside, causing it to set alight.

And he then told the congregation in Garankuwa, near Pretoria, that the petrol had been transformed into pineapple juice – and asked communicants to come up and take a drink.
‘I want to prove to you, with the flames that will burn here, that it shows what can be achieved if you have faith,’ he told worshippers.

‘What you see, you have to believe it.’
The clip shows men and women approach the charismatic pastor in a bizarre, almost trance-like state, wresting the bottle out of each other’s hands as they fight for a sip of the petrol.
This is not the first time Pastor Daniel has made headlines.
In January, the controversial preacher persuaded his followers to eat grass, claiming that those with faith could survive on whatever they chose.

“Truth is never out of kilter” – Chris Okotie fires back at CAN

Pastor Chris Okotie has reacted to a statement credited to the leadership of CAN that recently questioned his Christian standing. In the said statement, Okotie was advised to manage his home and keep to biblical principles of one man, one wife instead of attacking Oritsejafor.
The advice followed Pastor Chris Okotie’s article condemning the leadership of CAN, demanding for the resignation of the CAN president, Oritsejafor over the alleged involvement of his aircraft in the controversial $9.3m smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians and an Israeli.
In Pastor Okotie’s reply however, he said “I will not nobilitate such prosaic apologetic by a retort. Socrates once said to a young man, ‘speak that I might see thee.’ Now that CAN has spoken, even team Jonathan has spoken. Nigerians can now fully visualize the portrait of complicit shrouded in duplicity. Truth is never out of kilter. HahPastor Chris Okotie preaches

Wizkid Tells Saeon, 'We Are Not Friends,' Addresses Samklef Issue (FROM 360nobs)

We recently reported the stories of how Samklef, rising music producer and singer openly accused Wizkid of dragging his reputation in the mud as well as the latter's response to this and we also told you how pretty singer, Saeon accused Wizkid of collection N1.5 for a musical collaboration and not even bothering to retweet her Tweet; well, Wizkid has come out to address all these issues once and for all.

In addition to his earlier allegations of Wizkid soiling his image, Samklef had also said, "I was paid 250k 4 dz kid 6tracks I no try? I made no money from dz Dude all I wanted was just a support for 4 years. He keeps posting me... If u want all Wizkid instrumental hola."

Facts eventually emerged as to how Samklef used the controversy as a publicity stunt for his event, 'Fusion Wednesday' scheduled to hold today, October 15, 2014.

During an interview, Wizkid reiterated his previous assertion that Samklef is like a member of his family. “He came to my house two weeks ago. My house is a party house for Guys and Sam was in my house. So I dont know where all this came from.”

On the issue of not returning Samklef's visit, Wizkid, during the interview, gestured to a member of his crew and asked: "When last did i come to your house?”

The member of his crew whom the question was directed at was lost for words as he appeared to be trying to mentally fetch an answer to Wizkid's question and eventually gave an expression that seemed to say, "forever..."

To this, Wizkid continued, “I enjoy my space and the little time i get to myself because i am a very busy person.”

On Saeon's accusation, Wizkid was quite frank and went straight to the point when he said:

“It was strictly work. When did we even start talking that we should be friends like that? She came to me... No! Not me directly... to my manager and asked for a collabo. Normally, I don’t charge my friends but hey she came with some cash and I gladly obliged. I even gave her 10 per cent discount. That's a very generous move because it took her a month to get my attention. After that, it's back to our separate lives. We are not friends.”

Like Samklef, Saeon also appeared to have used the publicity create a buzz for her EP, which is out and of course, more people know about it because she had dragged Wizkid in a N1.5m controversy.

Ladies and gentlemen, Is Wizkid finally vindicated or shall we cast him into the pit of inconsistency and unfair treatment?

2015: Why Buhari/Fashola Ticket Is The Best To Defeat Any PDP Presidential Aspirant – APC Chieftain Reveals

2015: Why Buhari/Fashola Ticket Is The Best To Defeat Any PDP Presidential Aspirant – APC Chieftain Reveals

Buhari/Fashola Ticket for APC
Buhari/Fashola Ticket for APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) stands a better chance of defeating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 presidential elections if it fields General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as its presidential candidate and Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, as the running mate. APC chieftain, Ayo Akande, disclosed this on Tuesday. He said the combination of these two “trusted and tested politicians will defeat whoever the PDP presents anyday, anytime”.

While adding that corruption has always been the bane of progress and development of Nigeria, Akande said the records of Buhari as head of state in terms of war against corruption and Fashola’s self-discipline coupled with his accountability would deliver the presidency to APC. APC has many options for its presidential and vice-presidential candidates, but to me, I think the Buhari – Fashola ticket will be the best they can present. This is my personal opinion though.
If we can effectively tackle corruption in Nigeria, poverty will be a thing of the past. That is what a Buhari- Fashola ticket will do. We all know Buhari as a man of integrity who did not corruptly enrich himself as Head of State. Even the PDP attests to the fact that he is a very disciplined man. That is a kind of president Nigeria wants. On Fashola, a governor, who has served for eight years and has performed creditably in Lagos, the economic and capital centre of Nigeria, deserves a higher responsibility.”
“Fashola will make a good president but if the presidency will emerge from the North, then he will make a better running mate to Buhari,” he said.

ABUJA (Reuters) - Ahmed Musa scored twice to help holders Nigeria to their first win in African Nations Cup qualifying as they beat Sudan 3-1 in Abuja on Wednesday to resurrect their chances of reaching next year's finals in Morocco.

Nigeria had picked up just one point from their opening three games in Group A but the home win ensured they are now back in the race for a place at the finals in Morocco in January -- although they will probably have to win their last two qualifiers next month to make sure.
Musa opened the scoring after a mazy run on goal just after halftime but Sudan equalised eight minutes later through Ibrahim Salah.
Giant striker Aaron Samuel, making only his second appearance, bundled the ball over the line to restore Nigeria's lead in the 66th minute and Russian-based winger Musa made sure of the win three minutes from the end of a match played for a large part in heavy rain.

Do you think Drake should be taking this more seriously?

When the allegations came out on Oct. 6, police confirmed to HollywoodLife.com that they responded to a call on Oct. 5 by a female reporting who claimed she was being threatened by a “possible celebrity.” She said they hooked up and afterward, he became nervous she would go to the public, so his team “threatened her life.”
But Drake’s totally shaking it off.

Well, do you think he should be taking this more seriously or is he right — does this mean he made it? Let us know!
