The national u-23 coach of Egypt, Hossam El-Badry,
has vowed to stop Nigeria’s Dream Team VI from going through to the
knockout stages of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and then consequently
getting the ticket to the Rio 2016 Olympic games.
Hossam El-Badry
El-Badry boasted that despite their 1 – 1 draw against
Algeria in their opening encounter at the ongoing championship in
Senegal, his team will beat Nigeria and Mali and progress to the
semi-finals, Vanguard reports.
The tactician blamed goalkeeper Mosaad Awad for his lack of
concentration which allowed USM Alger attacking midfielder Zinedine
Ferhat to equalize for Algeria, after Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Abdel-Moneam
had put his team ahead in the 54th minute.
He said:
“Keeper Awad’s error cost the team a goal but such kind of errors are frequent in football.”
“We were close to winning the game, especially in the first half, but we failed to capitalise on our goal-scoring chances.
“We
didn’t lose the game. There are two matches remaining in the group
phase and we are determined to earn positive results in these games to
advance into the semis.”
The Flying Eagles will square-up against the Egyptians who will be
looking forward to their first win at the tournament against Nigeria on
Wednesday December 2, 2015.
