2nd Niger Bridge Ground-breaking

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Monday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the ground breaking ceremony that kick-started the construction of the second Niger Bridge.
Atiku made the commendation in Nsukka at the 16th annual conference of the African Council for Communication Education.
He said the bridge, when completed, would boost economic activates and transport in the South East and its environs.
Atiku said the bridge was overdue, adding that the ground-breaking should have been done before now.
He urged participants at the conference, titled “Communication, Children and the Youth in the 21st Century’’ to find ways to bring back the 10 million out-of-school children to school.
“The conference should find ways that will bring back to school the 10 million out-of-school children. The participants should also seek solution to the high rate of unemployment facing youths in the country,” he said.
He urged the media to set an agenda to promote ideas for building a 21st Century robust economy.
In a remark, the Vice-chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Bartho Okolo, represented by Prof. Polycarp Chigbu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academics, expressed appreciation to Atiku for honouring the invitation.
“Your presence today has shown the love you have for the university. I commend the Mass Communication Department for its continued excellent performance within and outside the university,” he said. (NAN)
